Almarhum Ustaz Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail was born on 10 September 1953 /1 Muharram 1373H. Affectionately known as Ustaz Zhul, he was raised in a household which greatly emphasized knowledge in both Islamic and secular education; whether through traditional or conventional methods. His family follows the way of the Ba-Alawi which emphasized on adab and akhlaq, maintaining good relations and camaraderie with one another, to love Rasulullah ﷺ and his family, and to be in the company of the ulama' and the righteous.

Shaykh Abdul Maqsud Al-Hasani ق was an Egyptian scholar from Al-Azhar University. He came to Singapore in 1989 to teach at Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah and remained with the Madrasah until his death. Shaykh Abdul Maqsud was remembered as a true scholar who mastered almost all subjects taught in the Madrasah. He used to teach from his memory without having to refer to the textbooks. He had a poetic mind and could come out with beautiful Arabic proses almost at will. When asked how he managed to do it, his answer was always a humble ‘he did not know where it came from’.

Shaykh Zakaria Bin Omar Bagharib (1936-2009) was the wakil (authorized representative) in Singapore, for Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani Al-Qubrusi An-Naqshbandi ق. He was the son of Shaykh Umar bin Abdullah Bagharib who was the khalifah for Mawlana Abdul Aleem Siddique of the Qadiri Tariqah in Singapore.

Habib Nuh al-Habsyi is known to be Singapore’s grand saint. Thousands of Muslims attend the yearly haul of Habib Nuh till this very date. Habib Nuh al-Habshi ق the saint of Singapore practiced the dala'ilul khayrat of Imam al-Jazuli ash-Shadhili ق daily.

Shaykh ‘Umar b. Abdullah Bagharib ق was born in Tarim, Hadhramawt, in Ramadhan 1300 AH/1883CE. Shaykh ‘Umar Bagharib ق was the first khalifah for the Qadiriyyah Thariqa’ in Singapore. His shaykh was Mawlana Muhammad ‘Abdul 'Aleem as-Siddiqi ق. He is the father of Shaykh Zakaria Bagharib ق from Singapore.

His full name was Shaykh Umar bin Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Salem Al-Khatib. His lineage traced back to Abbad ibn Bisyr Al-Ausi Al-Ansari, a Companion of the Prophet (saw), whose tomb is at Al-Lisik, Hadramaut. He was born in Tarim, Hadramaut, on Thursday 8 Zulhijah 1326H. He held strongly to the Al-Alawiyah tariqa.

Kiyai Muhammad Fadhlullah (D. 16/08/1964) was the father of Ustaz Taha Suhaimi and Ustaz Kamil Suhaimi. He was born in Singapore and went to Mecca and Al-Azhar University at Cairo to study before the start of World War 1.

Al-Marhum al-Ustaz Taha as-Suhaimi of Singapore will always be remembered as the main propagator of the Tariqah al-Muhammadiyah. He is a direct descendant of the beloved Prophet ﷺ through the Ba Shaiban family, a branch of the illustrious Bani 'Alawi of Hadramawt. He was born on a Thursday, the 27th of July, in the year 1916 CE.

Born in Tamil Nadu (India), he is known as a complete Sufi figure because his membership covers a wide range of knowledge and was a Murshid Thariqah Qadiriyah Naqshahbandiyah Suhrawardiyah Chistiyah Sanusiyah in his time. He is able to parse an issue clearly and is able to compose books related to Sufism in Arabic and English. Among his essays are Irshad Al-Habibiya and The Spiritual Message Of Islam. He has about 100,000 students and 45 Caliphs all over the world. Among the scholars in Singapore who have received a shower of knowledge from him are Maulana Abu Bakar bin Abdul Qadir (Maulana Abu Bakar Al-Malabari / Khawaja Nurillah Al-Mustafa), Shaikh Muhammad Taha bin Muhammad Fadhlullah As-Suhaimi, Ustaz Osman bin Yusoff and Ustaz Mohamed Ibrahim bin Mohamed Kassim (Khawaja Kalimullah Shah). He is buried at Kassim Endowment Cemetery (Siglap Road).

Exactly 2 years ago on 10 Sep 2018 (29 Dhu’l-Hijjah 1439AH), the Ummah lost one of its great men, Habib Abbas bin Muhammad bin Ali al-Saqqaf ق, the most senior of the Ba Alawi scholars in Singapore.

He is Maulana Abdul Aleem Siddique ق of the Qadiri tariqah, a disciple of Shaykh Ahamd Reza Khan Barelvi ق. A famous spiritual guide in Islam, thousands in Asia, Africa, Europe and America embraced Islam at his hands. Millions of Muslims received religious and worldly blessings through his dynamic and refulgent personality.
